Looking upon the stars

The Astronomy Club of Sparta “Dios Kouri” kept us company until Sunday morning!

This time the telescopes turned to the most massive star, the Sun. Amateurs astronomers who were in the area had the pleasure to learn about the nature of the Sun, blemishes, solar storms, their importance and their impact on the Earth.
The picture above shows the transit of Venus in front of the Sun, and at the same time sunspots have been captured as black dots (the picture has been taken by a member of the Association of Astronomy equipped with special filters).
