Tarantella

Traditional dance of Southern Italy, which is connected with the ancient Greek colony of Taranto, near Brindizi and Lecce at the centre of Greek-speaking villages in Salento. The “Tarantella Pitsika” is the most characteristic ritual dance of Southern Italy and it is associated with the phenomenon called tarantismos, a form of manic crisis which is caused by the poisonous bite of black spider. So, according to the legend a music exorcism is appropriate treatment for someone who is pinched by tarantula. This could hold up to three full days until he or she would crush and fall to the floor exhausted ,but healed.
